Selling your house when you have pets can be majorly stressful. My #1 tip for you? Make a plan for your pets so the process is easier on everyone, including Fido.
First, when you’re hosting showings and open houses, make sure to take your pets out of the house. Some buyers may be allergic or *gasp* just not like pets. You don’t want to make them want to run out of your home by giving them an allergy attack. Showings can also be super stressful for your pets. They can get defensive when strangers enter their space, especially if you’re not there to calm them.
Second, make sure to keep things tidy when you’re in showing mode. Put those pet toys away just like you would with your human children, tuck the food and water bowls in a cupboard, and vacuum up those dust bunnies. The more pet-neutral your house looks, the better.
Third, a good smell goes a long way. Most people with pets know how nose-blind they can get, so make sure you take steps to neutralize odors and replace them with something fresh like a seasonal simmer pot.
When you have a plan for your pets, selling your home gets that much easier.
